How to Hide Facebook Profile from Public

To hide your Facebook profile from the public and restrict who can see your information, posts, and personal details, you can adjust your privacy settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

  1. Login to Facebook: Open your web browser, go to www.facebook.com, and log in to your Facebook account with your username and password.
  2. Access Privacy Settings:
    • Click on the small down arrow located in the upper-right corner of the Facebook page. This will open a dropdown menu.
    • Select “Settings & Privacy,” then choose “Settings.”
  3. Adjust Your Privacy Settings:
    • In the left-hand menu, click on “Privacy” to access the Privacy Settings and Tools.
  4. Choose Who Can See Your Future Posts:
    • Under the “Your activity” section, find the “Who can see your future posts?” option.
    • Click on “Edit” next to this option.
    • Select your preferred audience. To make your posts visible only to your friends, choose “Friends” from the dropdown menu.
  5. Review Your Profile and Timeline Privacy:
    • Scroll down to the “How People Find and Contact You” section.
    • Click on “Who can see your friends list?” and choose an audience. Setting this to “Friends” is a good privacy practice.
    • Next, click on “Who can look you up using the email address you provided?” and “Who can look you up using the phone number you provided?” Set these options to “Friends” as well.
  6. Limit Past Posts:
    • If you want to restrict the visibility of your past posts, click on “Limit Past Posts” in the same section.
    • A confirmation prompt will appear. Click “Limit Past Posts” again to confirm. This will change the visibility of all your previous public and friends-of-friends posts to “Friends” only.
  7. Control Who Can Send You Friend Requests:
    • Under the “How People Find and Contact You” section, you can also adjust settings related to friend requests. Click on “Who can send you friend requests?”
    • Choose your preferred audience, such as “Everyone,” “Friends of friends,” or “Friends.”
  8. Adjust Profile and Tagging Settings:
    • In the left-hand menu, click on “Timeline and Tagging.”
    • You can control who can post on your timeline, who can see posts you’re tagged in, and review posts you’re tagged in before they appear on your timeline.
  9. Review Other Privacy Settings:
    • Go through the rest of the Privacy Settings and Tools to customize other aspects of your privacy, such as who can send you messages, who can look you up using your phone number, and more.
  10. Save Changes:
    • After making all the desired changes, make sure to click “Save Changes” to save your updated privacy settings.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to restrict your Facebook profile’s visibility and control who can see your posts, personal information, and interactions on the platform. Keep in mind that these settings can be adjusted at any time to suit your preferences.
