How to Change Facebook ID Number to Name
Technically you cannot change your Facebook ID number to your name or vice versa. The Facebook ID number is a unique numerical identifier assigned to each user and is not editable or changeable. It is used for internal purposes by Facebook to track users and their activities on the platform.
Your Facebook username, on the other hand, is the custom URL or web address associated with your profile, and it can be changed. This username can be based on your name or any other unique identifier, but it doesn’t affect your Facebook ID number.
To change your Facebook username (custom URL), follow these steps:
- Login to Facebook: Open your web browser, go to www.facebook.com, and log in to your Facebook account with your username and password.
- Access Your Profile Settings:
- Click on your profile picture or your name at the top left corner to go to your profile.
- Edit Your Username:
- On your profile page, click the “More” button, which looks like three horizontal dots ( … ), just below your cover photo.
- Edit Username:
- Select “Edit Username” from the dropdown menu.
- Choose a New Username:
- In the pop-up window, you can enter your desired username. Keep in mind that usernames must be unique, so if your chosen username is already in use by another user, you’ll need to try a different one.
- Confirm Changes:
- Once you’ve entered a unique username, click the “Create Username” button to save your changes.
- Review Username:
- Facebook will confirm that your new username is available and display it on your profile page.
Remember that after changing your username, the old custom URL will no longer work, and you’ll need to share your new username with others if you want them to access your profile directly via the custom URL.
Please note that while you can change your username, you cannot change your Facebook ID number, as it is a fixed and internal identifier used by Facebook for its own purposes.
