Russian Government Told APKMirror to Remove Telegram

Russian Government has banned Telegram from the country recently. After a short while, they have contacted to popular application mirror website APK. They asked APKMirror to remove those Telegram APKs for Russian users. According to official twitter account APKMirror, it is possible Russian Government can cut off all traffic to the if they continue to provide Telegram application to Russia. They have already asked App Store and Play Store to remove Telegram recently.

APKMirror Asking Ideas of Their Users

The problem has got lots of reactions from Reddit and also from Twitter. There are also many complaints about the situation. Russia’s ban to Telegram was quite surprising for many people since the application has been developed by an Russian developer Pavel Durov. APKMirror is now asking their users about their opinions for this situation.

Video Call Problem on the Viber Raise Doubts

We already reported that Viber have video calling problems in Russia recently. Many users started to believe that Viber is going to get banned from the country too. However we couldn’t get any report like that and Viber has already announced that the problem occurs because of Amazon Web Services.

Why Did Russia Ban Telegram?

According to Telegram’s CEO Pavel Durov, the application got ban from Russia because of the privacy but the problem is not violating privacy of people. Since Telegram hasn’t provided any data about their users to Russian governments, they faced with this problem. It is sad and also funny that while Facebook excused by their government, another application judged for not to provide their users data with another organization.

Telegram doesn’t collect any user data for their ads and they don’t share their user information with other services.
